Bleeding and cramps are typical after a medical or surgical abortion. Many people experience additional side effects, including nausea, sore breast or chest tissue, and vaginal discharge.
After a Pap smear: You may have some spotting the day of your procedure. Test results: Your healthcare provider will tell you when you can expect your Pap smear results. It usually takes about 1 to 3 weeks. Normal results mean that no cell changes were found on your cervix. You may be able to wait 3 to 5 years for your next Pap smear exam.
Pap test. The Pap test mainly checks for changes that may turn into cervical cancer. Cells scraped from the opening of the cervix are examined under a microscope. The cervix is the lower part of the uterus (womb) that opens at the top of the vagina. This test is sometimes called a Pap "smear" or "cervical cytology." Nabothian Cysts. Nabothian cysts (also called mucinous retention cysts or epithelial cysts) are common and benign and are considered a normal feature of the adult cervix ( Figure 1, C ). Many women have multiple cysts. They may be translucent or opaque, whitish to yellow, and range from a few millimeters to 3 to 4 cm in diameter.
Endometrial hyperplasia is a disordered proliferation of endometrial glands. It results from the unopposed estrogenic stimulation of the endometrial tissue with a relative deficiency of the counterbalancing effects of progesterone.[1] This imbalance in the hormonal milieu can be seen in a number of conditions where the cause of estrogen excess is either endogenous or exogenous.
